The country which has acquired the title and highly important status of the “Free World” and the nation which possesses the “Leader of the Free World” should be setting an example of what actions and behavior should be taken, not what behaviors and actions should be avoided. The world should be admiring us, not condemning us!

We have huge proportions of the left and right holding our nation back from progressing in the midst of all that is happening. More specifically, I am referring to the recent oil spill incident in the Gulf Coast. Instead of learning from this treacherous experience and finding ways to prevent it in the future we are pointing fingers, arguing and placing additional stress on the people who are trying to help.

I know that we need to understand how this situation came to be so that we may prevent it in the future, but the disgusting behavior I am witnessing is not only hurting us a people- but it is hurting our wildlife. These innocent creatures who have fall victim to this incident have no voice. We are their advocates. We are the rescue team.

I don’t appreciate the comments coming from the left and I think they are fueling much of the fire, but needless to say, we have a problem to solve regardless. We need to be supportive of one- another and be proactive, intelligent, capable individuals that I know we are.

I would like to add however, that this has become a unique PR opportunity for politicians, but we need not fuel their engines! Let’s ask them to look past re- election and focus on the present issue: cleaning the water, saving the wildlife and producing preventive measures so that we never have to deal with an incident like this in the future. If our nation’s politicians spent more time directly addressing the oil spill itself instead of addressing Mr Hayward’s statements, we’d see a lot more work getting done. I also believe that if TV personalities like Joy Behar stopped using this horrific incident to “feed the fire” and raise so many negative (and many, many false) claims about the right, we’d alleviate some of the tension in the air. When people look at TV personalities like Joy and her fellow co- hosts they leave the show with an impression- facts and suggestions for finding solutions should be on her agenda, not a PR opportunity to generate bad press for republicans.

Last but not least, every American (regardless of political preference) should be supportive of President Obama and his administration while they’re addressing this issue. We also need to be supportive of the various wildlife advocacy groups, volunteers and states directly effected by this incident. Do I think that the administration (and everyone else could be doing a better job)? Yes! But the only way they can accomplish getting any work done in addressing and resolving this issue is with our support! We are the United States, let’s show the world how united we are and let’s save the wildlife effected!

TO:

Senator Gillibrand of New York
&
Senator Schumer of New York

Schumer and Gillibrand

You are fired! You have lost touch with your constituents. You have placed your agendas and those of your party ahead of your own constituents. We placed you in your seats to serve us. As elected individuals, you need to remember that you are civil servants. Remember: We can elect other, more qualifying and fiscally responsible individuals to replace you. We can fire you just as easily as we hired you and we will.

Senator Schumer,
You should know better. You’ve been in Congress for how many years? Additionally, I filed a complaint with your office and I have yet to receive a response. I was disrespected and treated with little regard by someone in your office and I never received a letter of apology or an explanation of the situation. Just like every other New Yorker, I am your employer, and I could not be happier to see a better candidate in your seat in 2011.

Senator Gillibrand,
You received your seat in “default.” Governor Patterson, a democrat from New York appointed you to the Senate when Hillary Clinton got a better job. I do applaud you on your attempts to fight for better education for New Yorkers, but just like Schumer you’ve lost your spark. Aside from my own political convictions, I find that the Senators representing New York have no spark compared to other members of Congress. Additionally, on your Facebook page, you stated that you were happy to finally vote on the reconciliation bill from the House and happy to pass the “historic” legislation. Senator, not every “historic” event is a good one. Are you happy to have overstepped the boundaries of the Constitution? Or, has Speaker Pelosi or Senator Reid convinced you that your actions are justified? Nothing personal, but your Senatorial fate will too be revealed when New Yorkers vote “NO” to Gillibrand in the 2010 elections. I know I will.

New Yorkers placed you in your esteemed seats to defend the Constitution and the American people. Can you honestly tell me that with the recent vote to give governmental control over health care that you’ve upheld to the oath you gave to the American people? I think not. This is where it becomes personal. When you intrude into my life as well as the lives of every other American, it becomes a personal matter.

I cannot speak for the entirety of the American people and thus I’m not claiming that I am. But we need and we deserve explanation. Did Senator Reid or President Obama force you to vote “yea” on the health care reform bill? How did you vote on it when you knew there were backroom deals (Congressman Stupak and President Obama’s meeting/ conference being one of those backroom deals.) Senators, you leave me in awe and disappointment. You, in addition to your many comrades have motivated me to vote “NO” to Gillibrand and Schumer for Senate in 2010.

It’s nothing personal, but when my liberties are at stake- well boundaries have been crossed. You crossed the very people who empowered you because ultimately, we let you. I only hope that New York will not make that same mistake when we vote in November.

Rambling’s of Someone Who Wants America Back

Just a few weeks ago, Scott Brown (R-MA), a Massachussetts State Senator was elected a Republican Senator of the United States of America. It was a tremendous victory not only for those in Massachusetts, but for America. I always say, it’s a great day when Coakley’s not in a federal office.

Onto the larger picture. Twitter became an invaluable source in this election and it’s use is only growing. Scott Brown and his followers made quite the impact. Twitter is enabling politicians and their supporters to spread their charismatic energy and support across the “Twitterverse” and I’m seeing so much more political activity online than I could have ever imagined. America should be proud. I predict a wider base of politically oriented youth in the very near future.

In his State of the Union address the President has announced that he will take a more bipartisan approach; seeking the counsel of BOTH parties (which he should’ve initially done… but we’re moving forward here). Did I believe it? No. Do I believe it now? No, I don’t. Let’s face it. The President’s allegiance lays in the hands of the people who supported him in getting this seat- the Democrats and the DNC. He will say, do and write anything they suggest so that he can keep this seat to carry- out his mission to do what he (and the DNC) feel is best for America.

Regardless, he said what he said and will not take it back. So what are we, the gullible Americans to do? Let’s get the President and his followers with KINDNESS. Let’s respect him by referring to him as President Obama, the President, etc instead of simply, Obama, which his own group uses to refer to him. Let’s show him the respect the seat of Presidency deserves. Let us listen to him and his word. We may disagree, but the seat of the Presidency deserves this. I am not saying that we should change our party’s beliefs and becoming whole- hearted liberals or moderates for that matter. I think we should just open our ears a bit more so that when the time comes, we have gathered all the information we need…

“Keep your friends close. Keep your enemies closer.” That is exactly what we should do. We can listen to proposals. We just don’t have to accept them. Let’s show the Democratic Congressmen, Congresswomen and the President that we’re listening! Let’s show the people who the true fighters and patriots for America are!

I anticipate the election of more GOP-ers in the following months and with Twitter and a more focused party we can surely anticipate a GOP President in 2012.

In closing, let’s support Wisconsin Representative Paul Ryan and his Roadmap to America’s Future! I have watched his videos that are featured on his website and he needs our support. See the plan and the Congressman’s videos here: http://www.roadmap.republicans.budget.house.gov/

In November 2008, Americans came- out to vote for the 44th President of the United States of America who began his term in late January 2009. The American people elected Barack Hussein Obama as the 44th President and first African- American to achieve that position in America’s history. Regardless, it is my opinion that the President America needed and still needs is a President who is realistic, hopeful, confident and more conservative. I’m not attempting to be completely partisan here but with America in such a fiscal crisis and with such a great deficit we need a leader who can focus on addressing our greatest issues… resolve them and then begin bringing in new ideas and reform where need be. As you cannot reform a government that is not strong and united- nor can you reform a government that is not standing. The latter would be called forming a government that has ceased to exist.

Understand that I do not carry any hatred towards President Obama, but I believe he does not fully understand the severity of our situation. And quite frankly, I’m more concerned with having a President who can actually lead a country- and lead the industrialized and post- industrialized nations through both exemplary leadership example and genuine assistance (need be it) than the man who is the first African- American President. It is unfortunate that in the midst of excitement and perhaps some degree of carelessness many Americans voted for President Obama solely based on his race. Sure, he may have made history, but if he ruins the country what trail would he leave behind? Failure. Not only for African- Americans but for ALL Americans. Were in this country together. We’re in this recession together along with the world and we are in this battle to keep America as the poster- country for all nations- as the land of the free and home of the brave. Together.

Now, regardless of what I may feel about President Obama, other GOP members or any other citizen it is our duty as Americans to do whatever it is we can in the midst of these crises we’re facing. Its useless to continue complaining about our recently elected POTUS unless we have incriminating evidence, e.g. a scandal, proof that he is not a natural- born US citizen or something else that could have him impeached and tried. I wouldn’t keep my hopes up for that. Instead I’d be looking for a solution- a way we can all work together cooperatively expressing our partisan ideas and finding ways to compromise and “deal with it” for the next few years and find a worthy GOP candidate for the Presidential candidacy and find suitable members for Congress.

I believe that we can take a lot from 2009, in particular the inauguration of our new president. Republicans should know that we need improvement. Improvement not only in our selections for candidacy, but in our presentation. Liberals appear to be more united than we’ve seen in quite some time… The Republican party needs to “reform” its image. We need to rid of the stereotype that comes along with our right- wing title. Hopefully we can learn from this and move on. We do not currently have a republican administration. Nor do we have a highly populated republican Congress. But we can change that. How? We change that by learning from our mistakes, acting mature, discussing issues relevant to politics (not irrelevant personal issues) and through togetherness. I can’t reiterate enough how important it is that we “fight” together, united.

A few topics that came to my mind just a few hour before the balled dropped in Times Square and we entered 2010 are the following:

2009: It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

-Barack Hussein Obama was elected as the 44th President of the United States
-Plans to close Guantanamo Bay are issued by the administration.
-Nancy Pelosi & Friends introduce the Health Care Reform bill
-We slowly see the Executive Office of the President finding it’s way into Capitol Hill- where it does not belong. Thus, the Executive Branch extending its duties into those of the Legislative branch.
-Janet Napolitano, Homeland Security Secretary, finds a way to attack conservatives and compare them to the terrorists we are now at war with. (Not to mention we see that she can’t clear because according to Napolitano, terrorists came from the Canadian borders…despite what a 2002 US report discusses.) Democrats join Republicans in calling for her resignation.
-Twitter booms becoming a new medium for Congressmen/women, news, authors, doctors, writers and ordinary and extraordinary people alike to communicate with the world.
-Recession rates spike and decline, including unemployment rates.
-Economic stimulus plans show very small rates of improvement.
-Global Climate Change is discussed by world leaders at the conference in Coopenhagen.

Two thousand nine is reaching an abrupt close just a few short days away. I am urging all of my fellow citizens to reach out to their Congressman and Congresswoman to fight back on this ridiculous health care reform bill.

First, I’d like to point out one crucial and unfortunate event this bill will bring upon America- the elderly in America to be exact. Medicare will take some drastic cuts. Its already sad enough that we see the elderly having enough issues getting health care, but with this bill in particular we will be taking away money that they paid for to put in! It’s almost like filling a piggy bank from the working age of 14 and then having seeing it mysteriously disappear when you’re 65 right into Nancy Pelosi’s back pocket!

I ask you to place yourself into the shoes of your grandparents, parents, sisters, brothers, cousins, aunts, uncles, whomever in your family that may be over 65 and imagine their faces when the US government tells them that any funding they would have received via Medicare would be taken aback from them if this bill is brought into legislation. I can imagine that you’d be stunned and upset after this plan you essentially paid for is slowly ripped into shreds.

Medicare was created to support Americans over the age of 65 for medical expenses. Today, although we have a significantly large average life expectancy we must realize how we got there. Answer: through modernized medicine paid via private funds, medicare and other governmental aid. People’s lives have been prolonged because we have been able to grant them the funds (they paid for) to assist them in extending their lives and living longer more comfortably. You tell me that you’d feel A- okay when this happens to you or your family member and I will re-evaluate my own objections to this bill.

Also, on the White House’s web page I happened to come across one of President Obama’s few videos where Americans (real or not- who knows) express how important universal healthcare is to them. I saw one in particular where a family expressed how costly it was for their son who had a life- altering condition and required a very expensive drug. Honestly, I was taken aback and I truly, deeply felt compassion for what this family must go through on a daily basis. However, at the conclusion of the short “commentary” the mother of the child stated something along the lines that eluded in one way or another that the government was there for her family’s medical support. Mistakenly, it is quite the contrary. I will not waste my time explaining what the government is there to do because quite frankly, that is what our Constitution explains very well. Our Founding Fathers wanted to ensure that our government was decentralized, federal and kept tyranny away from the US system.

Please note that I still have compassion for this woman and her child as many of us encounter unfortunate issues whether present at birth or acquired through our lives. Whether or not the government is there to take responsibility for it is another question. I believe you all know where I stand on that. As per the woman’s child, I do think that there should be alternatives for family’s in that specific situation- as she expressed that he was removed from the family’s insurance because the insurance companies could no longer profit from his illness. Sure, maybe there should be a government program assisting families in that similar situation… whether the assistance be permanent or temporary is something I ponder about my self. All I know is that a family in that situation does need help and it would be “un- American” not to provide them with any.

If we can aid poor nations I see no reason why we can’t set a positive example by helping the needy individuals on our own land. We are only as strong as our weakest link- and I refuse to allow one unfortunate and ill child be America’s weakest link.

We’re approaching 2010. We do not need to generate a new health care system as much as we need to address the current issues we have with our current system. Let’s not leave America with more unfinished business at the close of 2009 than it can handle. And let us not leave our seniors behind and cheat them of what they paid for. Let’s not be careless bureaucrats.

Happy New Year!

This week our nation entered code orange for airspace due to extremists attempts in attacking the United States. Fortunately, they failed. However as a result, airlines (both in and out of the US) have enforced stricter guidelines. This means, their eyes are wide- open once again in fear of another attack similar to that of 9/11.

This issue should be one of our priorities. NOT Tiger Wood’s affair. The last time I checked, Woods was not an American official- nor any official abroad. He is an American pro- golfer. Pro- golfers have no influence in public policy nor do they have any militia that might protect the US from any extremist threats. Another point I’d like to make is: if you were in his shoes, would you want your neighbors and fans rumbling through your personal life? No. You would not. Let’s give the man some space. Sure, nothing wrong with acknowledging the situation. But to continue making it one of our primary discussion pieces is absolutely petty. He is an unimportant character in American sports and he does not influences the livelihood of society as we know it.

It is unfortunate that we care so very much about the lives of celebrities, while they care such little about us in return. Sure we watch them on the television and invite them into our homes (if you’d like to say that), but celebrities have little to no influence on our public policy, livelihood, nature of the US political system and no influence in our economy. If anyone’s out there complaining about money, its the celebrities seeking cash from the middle- class so that their films and merchandise can be purchased. They say ignorance in bliss, but in a case where ignorance develops into stupidity I say that ignorance is distasteful.

If you’d like to find a great topic to discuss at the gossip table why not discuss why POTUS, Obama, is nestled away in Hawaii on Christmas vacation instead of somewhere out of the spotlight. If that makes any sense… [sarcasm]. Sure, with the White House being a possible target it may be best for him to stay elsewhere… but would elsewhere not include state of the art facilities such as Mount Weather and other places with superior bunker- like functions?

—-Let’s Be Frank, is a new segment I’ve added to the InvestigatingPolitics family. It will be a more frequent update than InvestigatingPolitics and of course MORE opinionated. Examine it as an op- ed column piece. —-
As usual, comments and emails are appreciated. Feel free to email investigatingpolitics@gmail.com should you have any comments/ suggestions.

One of the many priveleges granted to US Congressmen is the franking privilege. Members of Congress are allowed to mail anything (for “official” use only) at no cost to their offices. This year the Obama Administration and the Pelosi and Friends team were hoping to stretch this privelege in mailing Christmas cards to Americans informing them that the government would provide federally funded health care… Their plan that would cost the US approximately 1 trillion dollars. We all know that this originally proposed health care option would see that the US would be placed in MORE debt than we’re currently in and we’d also see the government not only intruding in our pockets but in our doctor’s offices.

Fortunately, however, these Christmas cards will have to wait- as once this bill reached the Senate it was picked to pieces. The very liberal Senate was quite moderate- or shall I say that they were more CONSERVATIVE in the debate of this bill.

However, fortunately, members of Congress will not be sending out stuffed Christmas cards to the “qualified millions of Americans” that are claimed to have no health care insurance. And now every American who is not “qualified” to receive these Christmas Cards will not be paying for the card and its delivery! In the spirit of the holiday season can’t our leaders get in the spirit of giving and find some compromise? I’d like the liberals to “give” us some of their genuine time to discover how farfetched and costly this health care insurance pitch is and ditch it!

So in the spirit of this holiday season, let’s celebrate that in 2010 we will be welcoming a federal government healthcare intrusion scheme.
I shall leave you all with a quote from Harry Potter: “Progress for the sake of progress must be discouraged. Let us preserve what must be preserved, perfect what can be perfected and prune practices that ought to be… prohibited! “- Dolores Umbridge (Harry Potter)

As usual I would like to thank you for reading and would appreciate comments.
Later this week! “Copenhagen and Climate Change?” Or “Part I: Reflection of 2009… Start of the Four Year Countdown.” Please subscribe or follow me on Twitter to find out which topic I’ll be discussing in my next blog update.

The GOP needs to bring a hault to the endless attacks that have nothing to do with politics. We need to focus on the topics at hand and show a united front. We need to act appropriately and show the rest of America and the media that we are what's best for the country.

This week I was planning on addressing how the members of the GOP need to unite and display to left- wingers a strong battle front. However, the behavior of quite a few right- wingers has been disgraceful, rude and absolutely distasteful- and to our very own colleagues, nonetheless.

Just a couple of weeks ago, President Obama urged all Americans to contact their Congress members to urge them to sign the Health Care Reform Bill (HR 3200). In doing so, I think it is obvious to the naked eye that he was urging the leading American Party of Democrats to help him in this never- ending silent and usually cordial battle of Politics. This is a brilliant example of how united the Democratic Party is. Did anyone look at how many calls Democrats made to their Congress members? It was a whopping number and they succeeded their quota in telephone calls.

Did anyone from the GOP get out there and urge right- wingers to get on their phones and busy the lines of our Congress members? If they did, I know I didn’t read or hear about it. We’re like sitting ducks out there people. It’s almost as if we’re waiting for the Democrats to tell us when to come out and play. We’ve got to get back on track, especially if we want to get a GOP’er elected into the seat of POTUS when 2012 rolls around.

Moreover, we should not and we simply cannot afford to continue to attack our fellow GOP’ers. And since when has attacking someone (let alone a colleague) in regards to their weight had anything to do with politics? I refuse to name these people who find it amusing, at best, to harass members of this now struggling party. How about instead of going back- and- forth in relations to one’s weight we find an alternative? Idea: How about we tweet and retweet each other about new political ideas to better and broaden the GOP!? Wouldn’t that be some positive action, opposed to that of simply sitting at our desks and writing humor jokes about one’s weight? Now I am not a chauvinist in the least, but I was always taught that it is disrespectful and a mockery of the word, gentleman to discuss a woman’s weight. It is insensitive to discuss anyone’s weight, but to discuss that of a woman is in my opinion, sad.

I find it pathetic that I am discussing this at all, but for the few of you who lack enough “social skills” and intelligence to actually discuss the topic at hand and instead simply display your ignorance to the rest of us, why don’t you pick up your luggage and run to the left. The GOP is having a hard enough time carrying- on without your rubbish. Now, back on to something relevant: revitalizing and broadening the GOP.

What happened to “Honesty” in our Nation’s Capitol? In the past few months the US President, Barack Obama, and his comrads in the House have been attempting to pass the Health Care Reform Act Bill. However, the men and women we voted into the House to represent us and protect our interests and well- being have been misinforming us.

Perhaps its started with Speaker Pelosi, the Representative from California, influencing her colleagues in the House. I mean come on my fellow citizens, Nancy Pelosi, is a representative of FREAKING CALIFORNIA! One of the richest states in the country. Where do you think he interests lay? I dont think actors (who voted for Obama) like Ashton Kutcher (who I’m sure Tweets about the HCR Bill being positive) and Arnold Schwartzenegger need better Health Care plans. I mean come on- they are RICH and can afford as much insurance as they want.

You’d thnk that after many years of SILENT celebrities, America would find it suspicious that all these celebrities came out of their sealed mansions and advocated the election of Obama. Obviously, they would benefit in some manner. Whoever believes that these celebrities voted for him to better the Middle Class are out of their minds.

Back to Pelosi and Friends, how did we get here my fellow citizens? How did we get to this wretched spot where our $200K plus earning representatives lie to us as such. Treating us like sick patients in their own little rehab… They treat us as if we’re stupid because to some extent WE ARE. For instance, President Obama and Nancy Pelosi and Friends tell us that this National Health Care Reform Act Bill is “already paid for” and “wont place us in any more debt.” Well, Mr. President and Friends, indeed by undertaking this Health Care Reform Act we are placing a larger burden on our National debt- obviously without it, we would not go as far into the deficit as we are already going. In addition, what about who’s paying for this?? Eventually it will need additional costs to keep funded… Americans will have to cough up more taxes every year to pay for this. Not acceptable. What about the liberties restricted by medical offices under this Reform Bill?

Doctors’ abilities to perform certain tests and prescribe medications will be restricted under this act (unless you’re rich like Nancy Pelosi and can pay the Doctor to keep his mouth shut). The Government will have even more power to control what we can and cannot do.

People, come on! The Constitution delegates that the Power be kept in the hands of the People. Not a large Government. What would our Founding Fathers be thinking right now?

So do me and yourself a favor- not to mention the generations of Americans who will be paying for this in the future. Think about it… think about who is suggesting it… and think about the severities of the Consequences. Email, call, Tweet your Congress members. They’re being paid too much not to answer your questions. Challenge them! WE ARE THE PEOPLE. Let’s show the People we elected that they won’t mislead us anymore.

Just some food for thought. Thanks for reading as always. And I look forward to blogging more in the future- so let me know what you think!
